There are certain milestones that just about every author out there tries to strive for in their career. One of them is to successfully publish their book and the other is to get featured in a magazine that they absolutely love.
Last week we submitted some of Andrew's stories to a London Magazine; ‘The Lady’. One of the biggest honours, was to hear the editor loved the story "Fondest Love" and wanted to include it as an 'exclusive', in the following fortnight's issue, it was such a delight to hear and Andrew was overjoyed!
"When my amazing publisher, Clare Newton of Happy London Press, told me she was submitting four of my more macabre short stories to the venerable and respected magazine, The Lady, I said, ‘No way.
There is no way that that magazine will give my stories the time of day.’ Imagine my surprise when almost immediately after submission they wrote back to say, that they’d found the stories ‘gripping,’ although, as had been imagined, not for their readership. Nothing daunted, Clare then sent off two more. Coals to Newcastle tells of a wife convinced her husband is having an affair when she overhears the female voice of her husband’s satnav in a mobile call to him whilst he’s driving up north. What she doesn’t know is…. But then, what he doesn’t know is also… Fondest Love is a romantic little piece with a twist in the tail, and it
was this latter story the magazine agreed to print this coming Friday January 18 th ..
Not surprised by Clare’s email advising me, which read, YIPPPEEE.
A good start to the week." Andrew
